Quarterstaff Magic Items

Quarterstaff is full of potions, rings, wands, gems, and other interesting items, and many have unique and sometimes bizarre properties. While one or two of these items are necessary to acquire to win the game, the majority of them are entirely optional. Some are quite useful, (for example a potion that restores HP or removes Poison), while others are more novelty items (like a wand that will lock the door you point it at).

Because there are so few visible game modifiers (Resistances, HP, etc.), it is sometimes very difficult to determine what effect an item has, if any. The following list contains all items that have visible game effects, plus a few items of questionable effect.

Frothy Potion Potion Drink to make magic items temporarily glow. Succubus, Priest Chamber
Gaudy Ring Worn No noticeable effect. Fountain, Fountain Room
Gaudy Scroll Scroll Read to make magic items temporarily glow. Stairs
Gem of True Seeing Held Hold to make magic items temporarily glow. Silk Pouch, Bolt Hole
Glowing Gems Other No noticeable effect. Grand Druid, Shrine
Gold Brooch Worn Cannot be removed once worn. Bruno
Gold Neck Chain Worn Levitates the wearer. Succubus, Priest Chamber
Green Potion Potion Drink to teleport to your choice of any previously-visited room. Large Wooden Crate, Reliquary
Heal Potion Potion Causes Healing Heat Damage (restores HP). Desk, Priest Chamber
Hydra Blood Other Burn on the Iron Pentagram before having a character commit suicide. This is a required item. Old Bench, Dark Chamber
Identify Wand Wand While holding the wand, and with the object you want to identify in your inventory, type 'gurz <key>' to identify a key, 'nesoe <potion>' for a potion, 'odeeps <wand>' for a wand, and 'falp <scroll>' for a scroll. Gouged Hole
Lion Figurine Other No noticeable effect. Large Wooden Crate, Reliquary
Little Bag Bag Portal to the Guest Room. Iron Bound Chest, Treasure Vault West
Lock Wand Wand While holding the wand, type 'frobik <exit>' to lock an exit with a closed door. Granite Statue, Circular Room
Musky Potion Potion Drink to teleport to your choice of any previously-visited room. Slippery Passage
Old Ring Ring Levitates the wearer. Skeletal Remains, Cave Entrance
Old Scroll Scroll Teleports the reader to Treasure Vault East. Wild Wizard, Bolt Hole
Orc Faced Brooch Worn No noticeable effect. Gelatinous Cube
Pink Potion Potion Drink to remove Poison. Old Leather Pouch, Armoury
Potion of Sleep Potion Drink to fall asleep. Wild Wizard, Bolt Hole
Potion of Vitality Potion Poisons the drinker. Granite Statue, Circular Room
Purple Potion Potion Drink to fall asleep. Statuary
Red Potion Potion Drink to remove Poison. Maple Chest, Guard Chamber
Ring of Sustenance Ring While worn, the character will not get hungry, thirsty, or sleepy. When removed, the character becomes hungry, thirsty, and sleepy. Grue, Old Store Room
Scarab of Insanity Worn Wear to switch gender. Druid Guard, Rec Room
Sleep Potion Potion Drink to fall asleep. Titus
Sleep Wand Wand While holding the wand, type 'pizer <target>' to force the target to sleep. It can be resisted. Peave, Altar Balcony
Sleepless Potion Potion No noticeable effect. Bronze Seal, Charred Room
Slime Potion Potion Causes Healing Heat Damage (restores HP). Quenlin, Priest Chamber
Small Bag Bag Portal to the Cursed Room. Stone Sarcophagus, Crypt
Small Potion Potion Poisons the drinker. Skeletal Remains, Cave Entrance
Smoky Potion Potion Drink to teleport to a sleeping creature. Spike, Guard Chamber
Teleport Potion Potion Drink to teleport to your choice of any previously-visited room. Wild Wizard, Bolt Hole
Thick Potion Potion Drink to switch bodies with Grue. Bolt Hole
Wooden Ring Ring Gradually restores HP while worn. Wild Wizard, Bolt Hole
White Goggles Worn Allows character to see through mist and fog. Quenlin, Priest Chamber
Yellowed Scroll Scroll Read to fall asleep. Peave, Altar Balcony
